Assignment Two
“Flow Chart”
“University applications and acceptances”

In this assignment I chose to discuss the process students go through after graduating from high school, the process of applying to universities. And most importantly it was dependent on the degree a student held from high school. And I focused on the IB system (International baccalaureate system) either with the diploma degree, or the certificate degree.
The diploma students are assigned more loads of work, higher level courses, presentations, extended essay, Theory of knowledge paper and presentation, and also they are required to have certain hours Of CAS; which stands for creativity, action, and service. The diploma students are more eligible than the certificate students.
Therefore, I outlined in my flow chart, the steps a student go through, when he/she graduates from high school. The choice of a student to continue university or taking a gap year in order for example to have a job and get the money to pay for university tuition fee. Or if a student decides to continue university.
Later, students face the choice of “which country”, and I constructed the flow chart with what happened to me, it was either Jordan my home country or Canada. And UTM was my choice. Students with certificate degree are rejected and are not accepted into UTM under any circumstances; however in Jordan Universities do not really care about whether the degree is a diploma or a certificate degree. And I showed that in the flow chart.
I had a diploma degree, and right after I graduated I applied to Universities in Canada and in Jordan as well. My application and documents to UTM went smoothly since I had good recommendation letters from my high school, I had community service hours, I had good grades, and all in all I was eligible for all the requirements UTM asked me for.
The purpose of this task is to show undergraduate students, the process they go through, the stages they might pass through. I outlined clearly the consequences that might happen if a student takes the diploma or the certificate degree, and I also showed the process of applying to a university, and I mentioned the paper work required for good universities abroad such as UTM.
However there are some disadvantages in this process, such as cultural differences, language difficulties, online theft while paying application forms and submission, also the application may be delivered late or even to wrong addresses “wrong mail addresses”.
As a result of these disadvantages, I thought of an improvement that would be; students that are applying to universities should make a personal form that contains all the required paper work a university admission office may ask for, and in this way a student will be able to save money, and time, and reduce the risk of losing one piece of important document. In this way a student will send all the required documents, letters, etc… together all at once.
